Lean On Me Foundation Empowers Inmates With Messages Of Encouragement

The Lean on Me Foundation, together with special guests Lloyd Barker, Miss Universe Cayman Islands 2023 Ileann Powery, Second Runner Up Miss Universe Cayman Islands 2023 Tracey Campbell, took some time out of their busy schedule this weekend to meet with inmates at HMP Northward Prison.

The visit was a part of the Lean on Me Foundation's periodic visits which the organisation has done for the past 16 years, according to Mrs Derri Lee, a director of the organisation.

Sharing more about the overall goal of the prison visits, Mrs Lee said:

The Lean on Me Foundation feel that if we can spread some positivity and encouragement to inmates through these channels, we could perhaps change the hearts and minds of those incarcerated to become better citizens in our society if and when they are released into the community.

Mrs Lee added, "Over the years, we have included motivational speakers in our visits."

One such motivational speaker is attorney and philanthropist Lloyd Barker who Mrs Lee said "shared his personal experiences" and "captivated the inmates with his discussion on not giving up and believing in themselves."
